Material features:
Concrete, red bricks, glass, metal pipes, and other leftover materials from a construction site were recycled and used to assemble the table, which is a representative piece of the recycled furniture produced by the second interdisciplinary collaboration between META and Saiens.
The idea for the tabletop was inspired by concrete, which is the most abundant source of waste at construction sites. The table marks the first attempt to use concrete as a raw material for a green building material. After adding discarded red bricks and glass to concrete and then processing the material using Saiens’ special technology, a unique quartz material was developed.
The texture and pattern of the table top was designed by META. A light gray color similar to the color of exposed aggregate was used, making stains hard to see and giving the table a grounded and enduring look.
The recycled stone is made of concrete and red brick.
The table is an assembly of discarded pipes from a construction site.
